Wednesday's When & Why Wah Lao

When you are very ill, with eyes like cannot open liddat liao, eat also no appetite, please stay at home or eat at home or rest, can anot? Please don't follow your husband out for dinner with his friends, and then while everyone is happily eating & yakking away, make as though the food owes you the world, and halfway, lean against your husband, looking half dead, (making the other friends feel bad and somewhat embarrassed, also beh tahan-ly annoying because so sou heng / potong stim) expecting the hubby to carry you home then and there. Wah lao!!

The husband, on one hand, must be feeling kesian for the wife but on the other hand, wanna spend time catching up with his friends. So how? Dinner finished early lor!

Moral of the story, when sick, STAY AT HOME!

Why on earth do you use the same "thing" (<-- the "sucker" ah, what izzit called?) to vacuum the bed / mattress after vacuuming the floor?! OMG, I can't believe that people actually do this. I surrender... No eye see. I sure vomit blood until no blood left if next time my husband do this. Can you imagine how dirty that "sucker" is after vacuuming the floor, then you take the same "sucker" and vacuum the bed? Wah lao!!

NB - Wah lao / wah liao / wah seh / wah "insert-whatever-sound-you-want" is something that you exclaim, might not be a loud one, when you saw / heard something that is ridiculous, amazing, crazy or unbelievable.

**This was written many, many Wednesdays ago.. :P Didn't think it'd be published but what the heck lah!**

On The First Afternoon In PussyCat City...

KchAirport_1

I have never really thought of visiting the Borneo Island before this but somehow, in the past two months, I went to this 3rd largest island (in the world) twice. I was in Brunei for one weekend in August and last weekend, we went to the Cat City aka Pussy Town (dunno who came out with this term, ECL maybe...) aka Pussy City (I said wan...) aka Kuching aka the capital of Sarawak state.

Initially we were invited by someone to visit Kuching but I suppose the plan didn't materialise. I took the 'liberty' to invite the Sampat Couple
to come along but turned out, they have booked their 'free air ticket' months ago and were going there one week before the weekend that I had planned. So in the end, we decided to follow them. The more, the merrier! And it was so true! But to cut a long story short, ECL couldn't make it due to unforeseen circumstances... aiyah!!! Potong stim!!! But never mind, we ate on your behalf too... muahahhahaa!!

Arrival & Departure Hall...

Me & NP took an earlier flight. Upon reaching Kuching's International Airport, a message came in, welcoming us to Kuching. None other than Master Ben! I did not tell him the time of our arrival as I did not want to disturb him. When I called him back, he said that he's on his way to the airport to pick us up. Wow! So touched! So kind of him! So io ka chn'g... I said, no need, but he insisted. So, okay, we waited for him... it was drizzling a bit...

Outside the airport... right & left...

While waiting for him, we were busy admiring Kuching's airport. Very wow! Very KLIA! Beat Penang's airport hands down! How Can?? Ohh... because it was just renovated sometime last year... no wonder... but still, why can't they give Penang's airport a new facelift??

A few minutes later, our chauffer friend came...

Master Ben in action...

He is really too kind to us... He just came to pick us up and sent us to the hotel, and had to leave because he had a class that day! Aiyah... made us feel so guilty... But thank you 1,000,000x, BenBen!!!

It was still too early to check in because the rooms were not ready. Our initial plan was to go around that area, look-see look-see but alas, Luck was NOT on our side as it started to rain right after we reached the hotel. So what to do? Wait lor! Wait wait wait...

Later on the
Sampat Couple™ arrived, chauffered by a friend Kenneth, and his gf. He came with them in a big car and all of us hopped into the car to go for lunch. What's for lunch, you asked? What else but this...

Errr... dunno where he took us.. I din take pics of the place :p Oh, and thanks to Kenneth for buying us lunch! Aiyah!!! So shy again...

After that, he left with the gf and Master Ben took us to this other place for a drink. Die... forgot this place's name... I think got the name "Song" sumting...

What was for teatime? Tea of course... Teh-C Peng Special! (Chen calls it Kiasu Teh-C Peng worrr...) Teh-C Peng = Iced Evaporated Milk Tea [Correct ah my translation??] Why "Special"?

Haaa... here's the answer...

the-cspecial3layer

the-cspecial4layer

the-cspecial5layer

The-CPengSpecials

It's "special" because it's 'layered'... 'shortest' is 3 layers, ie. Gula Melaka syrup (brown sugar syrup), evaporated milk & tea.

4 layers will be
Gula Melaka syrup, evaporated milk, wheatgrass (green colour) & tea. 5 layers will have cincau (grass jelly or black jelly) as the 5th 'layer'.

I ordered the 3 layers because I'm not so keen on the green green tei stuff... Yup, it was during this trip, they all found out that I hate green stuff! Anything green, nothankyouverymuch!! (But I love Milo, ok! :p) My 3 layer tasted just like any other iced milk tea... but the 5 layer one tasted quite different, and guess what? All of us loved it! Unfortunately, this "special" concoction is not available at all coffeeshops... My Question, "How come KL dun have this drink??? How come? How come???" (Someone bought a bottle of the gula melaka syrup back to make her/his own Teh-C Peng Special...show you the picture of it another time :p)

**Intermission - WAAA!!! How come I can go into Facebook already??? Wah... I better don't get too excited yet...**

So, there you go. Our first afternoon in the Land of Hornbills...

A Birthday & A Sad Love Story

Happy Burfday to Pookyma PKM!!!

iphone_cake

Young chap's birthday today. Met him briefly during our trip to Penang 2 weeks ago. Really young ciku, I tell you... Made me, chen & lb felt so.........

Once upon a time, there was this girl who's so in love with her boyfriend. After 3 years of courtship, suddenly she found out that something has changed in her relationship with her bf. He was not as loving to her as before. She tried to dismiss all suspicions but to no avail.

One day, she 'forced' the bf to tell her what the problem was. He didn't want to say anything. Kept insisting that nothing's wrong. A few days after that, he took her to a coffee shop and broke the news to her. He told her that they are not ngam for each other. She thought, "Not ngam?!" Not ngam then what were those 3 years of courtship??

She just couldn't accept the fact that her relationship was over. She spent days and nights crying over him. Friends console her but just couldn't make her feel better. She went and begged him not to leave her. But he was adamant. He said, "It's too late..." and ordered a packet of Salem. She was stunned. Because he never smoked before. Well, not in front of her, obviously.

He started puffing away. They had early dinner that day. But of course, nothing went down her tummy that night. She was...

broken-heart

After that evening, she schemed about how to get back at him. (Not how to get him back.) She had 1001 plans in her mind. But nothing was put to action.

Because sometime after that, she learnt that while she was with him, he brought home some Mama-san from nightclubs. She couldn't believe her ears when one of his friends told her. She was horrified and thought, "How could he had done that to her?!" But reality was, he did that. She also learnt later that he got together with his clerk. Their relationship lasted quite a number of years but in the end, he left dumped her too.

Another few years down the road, she learnt that he got married to a Shanghainese lady. One fine day, out of the blue, he called her. At that time, the last they met was 6-7 years ago. They agreed to go for dinner that night.

She was nervous of course. She didn't know what to expect. He came to pick her up in a cab because he was just stopping by for the night. He looked the same, some things just don't change. They caught up on old times and went for some drinks after dinner, then it was time to go home.

On the way home, he asked her to give him another chance. Of course she was shocked. She thought, "It's been a long time and now he wants a second chance?!"

Without thinking, she looked at him and said, "No."

This time, he was shocked. Then, he gave her a very sad look. He even begged her. He was persistent but she stood firm. He looked out the window, holding her hands. She looked at him and kept quiet. He kissed her hands, just like how he used to when they were together. The journey back home was an unusually long one.

Before she got down from the car, he asked her again, "Are you sure?"

She replied, "Yes, I am..." and got down from the car. She never looked back again...

Sekian, tamat.

So how was my storytelling skills??

Nolah, the reason was because I wanted to share this other song by Blue Lagoon, the German euro-pop band! Another cover song, What Becomes of The Broken Hearted. This is the latest cover for this song. Another cover of the same song was done by Westlife in year 2000. The original singer was Jimmy Ruffin who sang the song in 1966. Here are the three versions of the song. My favourite is of course the one by Blue Lagoon laaa... Enjoy!
