Swedish Stories Chapter VI (a)

ShortYaks: Is there anything wrong with youtube.com and petalingstreet.org? Or something is wrong with MY internet connection?? Something WAS wrong with my connection. After resetting it, things are back to normal...

I got a replacement battery for my ApPearl Macbook a few days ago. Yeah, it was the battery that kaputed...

Chapter I
Chapter II
Chapter III

skansen01

It's been more than a month since I last wrote about my Swedish adventures. So today I'll continue to share with you some of the nicest place in this Scandinavian country. I mentioned to Narrowband once, that one of my favouritest place in Sweden is Skansen. I quote from its website, "Skansen is the oldest open-air museum in the world. Skansen is also a zoological park. It is located on the island of Djurgården, a royal park near the centre of Stockholm, and open every day of the year, except Christmas Eve."

skansen02

Mini map of Skansen at the entrance.

The interactive map can be found here.

skansen04

Got Stage & Restaurants, Fairground, Aquarium, Zoo...

We did not finish visiting everything in Skansen because we only allocated half day for this place. It's a pity actually... So, if you were to go to Skansen, make sure you spend the whole day there! There are alotta things to do and to see!

skansen03

Can never get bored taking pics of looking at the tulips...

skansen06

Some of the buildings under the category
Living History.
You know what's fun about this place? Inside most of these buildings, they actually made it 'alive' with people. Yeah, with folks who are historical interpreters in that period's costume. How cool is that? V E R Y C O O L ! ! !

skansen08

Give you an example... this is the Älvros Farmstead,
a typical northern Swedish farm
.

skansen07

This old man can be found inside the farmstead, sharpening some wood,

not too sure what the purpose was,
but it looked like some work for this ah pek...

Swedish Stories Chapter III - Lunch & Gamla Stan

Not-So-Short Yak ~ DYK that if you are using StatCounter.com, you get a free log size of 500 instead of the previous 100? Yes, 5x more 'stats' to check on who visit you and who don't to study your readers/audiences. How to do it, here, follow this when you log onto your account.

To increase your log size, log into StatCounter and click the wrench icon beside your project. Click ‘Adjust Log Size’, and enter 500 in the box. Click ‘Adjust Project Log’ and you’re done!

I just checked and saw some really ridiculously funny laugh-die-me Google searches that lead to my blog. Eg. MUACK MUACK, Why did Ricki Lake's marriage end?, bahasa istana, playground dustbins, hamburger recipe celine dion (What the...???), rtm use michael buble song (Someone in PUCHONG was looking for this!), sweet little sexy angels (Someone is horny in Netherlands.), friendster klang horny sex (I wonder who's the culprit in PJ!), concubine wives in africa (Someone in India is looking for African concies!! Haha! Gosh, this is so fun!). Someone even looked up 'chup chup liu liu site'!! Now, who are you?? LOL!

Sorry kyh, last night was a False Alarm... I accidentally published this incomplete entry. But you'll get your 5 pts for that 'chup'.

And now, to continue my Swedish Stories... flashbacks:
Chapter I
Chapter II

Our lunch after walking around Kungliga Slottet... McDonald's.

Piglet's burger

My chicken salad + rice/risotto (I think).
This meal (both sets) cost us approximately RM70.

After lunch, we walked around Gamla Stan, which is the Old Town of Stockholm. A lot of shops here, and alleys too. But prices of souvenirs here are much more expensive than Drottninggatan (more on this in the next entry). Note that it's Tax Free Shopping for tourists here in Sweden (for minimum purchase of 200 SEK) but not all stores lah. I donch know why... Some of the shopkeepers are very karn (cunning). They won't give you the tax refund slip if you didn't ask for it. Ei, the refund is more than 10%, okay! Lotsa $$$, you know... On top of giving you the slip, your purchases will be sealed with a sticker and you are not supposed to remove it because the customs officials will be checking it. (If you have many shopping bags, most probably they won't go through every bag.)

The shop where I bought your postcards & stamps.
This area is called Vasterlanggatan. Do check out more pics here.

Yes, mine mine, all MINE! *wishful thinking*

Among the colourful & interesting things that caught
my attention from the shops in Gamla Stan.

Cobbled streets & medieval alleyways in the Old Town.

Public phone...

Then we found the narrowest alleyway in Stockholm, Marten Trotzig's Alleyway. According to this website, (more pictures found there as well) the narrowest part of this alley is only 90cm. How did this alley got its name? Answer is here.

Top to bottom...

Bottom to top.

Then, we came to Stockholm's Hard Rock shop in Gamla Stan. Nope, not the cafe, but the shop. Best part, there's an "Everything Must Go" sale! Woohoo! What else? Shop lah! Added my collection of Hard Rock Cafe's guitar fridge magnet which cost me slightly more than RM50. *see No Evil*

The really sweet girl at the shop who sprained her hand...

Next, one of my favourite view in Stockholm, Stortorget, The Big Square (Central Square) in Gamla Stan. It is said to be the site of Stockholm Bloodbath, year 1520. This is how it looks like today.

The Well... people enjoying the Sun.
Me avoided the sun, of course!

This last pic, my favouritest building in Stockholm, Stortorget 18-20. I really really love 'em. Such colourful wonders built a few centuries ago. We had hot chocolate one afternoon at the orange building, al fresco, of course... and shivering at the same time, haha! Coldlah okay! But I'll still do it again and again and again...

THHC™ Chapter 13 - Let's Spoon! JomPeluk!©

Saturday afternoon. I'm lazy. I'm sleepy. I am sien. I have a baby in the house. She's sleeping. Maybe that's why I'm lazy. Where's this going? I don't know. I just pakai hantam only. What do I want to talk about today? A lot. But I'm not gonna talk. Why? Because I don't want to talk about bad things here. But then again..... Negative feel. Upsetting moods. Sad feelings. Unfairness in the air. Time wasted. Frustration. Liars. PMS. Copycats. Robbers. Love dies. Periods. More liars. Black hearts. All these. Makes me wish that I am really an angel. An angel who could make things right, maybe with the help of a magic wand. (OK, I know that's not what angels do but the keywords, I WISH, can or not?? Or maybe I should wish to be Angelina Jolie while I'm at it?) For myself (Mostly. Love thyself first.) and for you.

Okaylah, that's all for today. Oh, the burnt Viking ship was spotted outside Kungliga Slottet. Don't know why it was there. Maybe to attract some attention? I don't know. Because there wasn't any noticeboard of any sort.

Finally, the result of May 2007's Hug Hug Club. Donno what this is? Check it out here. Thank you for the chups, hugs & kisses. Oops, the baby is awake liao. I wanna go play with her and then attend a June Babies' Birthday Bash later. Come, iPort over, Penang, Italy, Singapore & Sydney! YAATTAA!

Swedish Stories Chapter II - Brekkie, Before Lunch

An irrelevant story that happened earlier this evening...

Staff 1 : Miss, I lost my handphone... I left it on the reception table to charge, now no more there...

Me: Har??!! *thinking, "Who dare steal in the office?!"*

*faster faster rewind CCTV*
*waiting...*
*wait some more...*
*saw someone taking the phone!!!*

*GASP* Aiks... it's Staff 2...

*thinking*

Cannot be... cannot be... *although ownself not confident*

*calls up Staff 2*
*call not picked up*
*calls again 5 mins later*

Me: Hello, Staff 2, hey, just now you took whose phone har?

Staff 2 : Huh? *sounded a bit surprised*

Me : Neh, just now you kept someone's phone? *tries to "help"*

Staff 2 : Ohhh... I helped Staff 3 to keep her phone because she left it just like that at the reception table.

Me : But that's not Staff 3's phone! It's Staff 1's phone. Where did you put it?

Staff 2 : I told Staff 3 and she asked me to put inside her drawer.

Me : I see... OK, I call Staff 3 and ask her. Thanks.

*calls Staff 3*

Me : Hello... Ei, you go check your bag and see if you took home two handphones.

Staff 3 : Har??

Me : *explained what could have happened*

Staff 3 : Oh ya ya, Staff 2 told me that I left my phone somewhere, so I just asked her to put inside my drawer. But when I came back, I saw my phone was on the table.

Me : I see...

Staff 3 : Hang on, lemme check my bag.

*2 minutes later*

Staff 3 : Don't have la... I think it could be inside my drawer.

Me : But your drawer locked ler... OK nevermind, at least we know it's safe in your drawer. Thanks! *Phewwww...*

And because of this "case", I couldn't finish my entry just now. But it was a funny misunderstanding/miscommunication, wasn't it?

The next day was Sunday, 6th of May. We had buffet breakfast at the hotel. All of us were quite impressed with the spread but then after the 3rd day, it gets..... well, I'm sure you'd know what I mean if the same types of food stared back at you every morning... Nevertheless, I've 'learnt' to eat the hard/dry bread and I love it! Had to go to Ikea last Sunday to satisfy the craving for this type of bread. Haha...

Scandic Park's brekkie napkin...

Bread bread everywhere...

Smoked/boiled bacon/turkey ham,
some pâté, zucchini, tomato, capsicum...

Yogurts. Everyday also got... and I'm NOT a yogurt person :(

Mixed fruit salad and the other one, mixed berries salad? All types of berries! Strawberry, raspberry, lingonberry but served very cold!

This is Stureplan, sort of like our Bangsar equivalent, for the hip-hop-happening yuppies. There are quite a number of bars and restaurants here although we did not try any.

The 'Mushroom' is a popular meeting place here. This reminds me of a place
in Hong Kong too. Was it at The Peak? Or halfway to The Peak?
Always a very popular location in
TVB series.

Jakobs Kyrka - a church in Kungsträdgården

The scene beside Jakobs Kyrka.
Reminds me of hanami, (No, not a Japanese pornstar, okay!)

Kungliga Operan, the Royal Swedish Opera located very near Jakobs Kyrka.

What method of fishing do you call this?

We were told that some of these bicycles are "free". Huh, free?? Sure or not?
But we have no idea how to 'take' the bicycle ler...
Kikare, is it true that it's FOC??

The building with flags is Stockholm Tourist Centre Sverigehuset (Sweden House), opposite it is NK aka Nordiska Kompaniet, a shopping centre.
And right in front, TGIF.

Dalecarlian horse aka dala horse,
a big model inside Sweden House.

This couple were waiting for the Sweden House to open, just like us...

Sunday morning's family outing.
All mat saleh
babies are mega cute!!!

The biggest chess set I've ever seen!

Although the sun is shining,
but it sure is cold out there... brrrr...

One of the Royal Palace's guard...

Kungliga Slottet, Swedish's version of Buckingham Palace, I suppose.
I didn't go in but my boss did because she loves museums.

So, me & Piglet went strolling on our own...

**Addendum @ 0210, 260507 : By the way, the Entrance Fee for the Royal Palace is 130 SEK, about RM70. Yes, it's like a museum. In 2006, I visited the Tower of London which cost me £13.50, which is about RM95 and I after about an hour, I finished jalan-jalan the whole place already although the tourist guide was saying, "You must go to The Tower of London and will spend at least a day there." A day?! So, Narrowband, that's why I didn't go into Kungliga Slottet ler...
